I’ve been nominated for the “Blogger Recognition Award”.
If you’ve not heard of it before, the Blogger Recognition Award is an award given by a fellow blogger who recognises your blog out of all the millions out there in the blogosphere as worthy of recognition. I think that makes it one of the really special awards out there.
Let me start by thanking the lovely Alana for nominating me for this award, and including me in a group of such other lovely bloggers. I love her blog, so please do check it out here: Burnished Chaos. It’s a family and lifestyle blog that is just so lovely and positive. I usually seek out Alana’s posts when choosing a post to comment on when we’re linked up to the same linky as they are so easy to read and enjoy.
This is actually the second time I’ve been nominated for this award. The first time was back in February, (Blogger Recognition Award)but my blog itself has become more popular since then so to receive it again is really special. Thanks Alana.
Right … on to the award.
The Rules
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
- Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
How MomOfTwoLittleGirls Started
My blog started in August last year. I was starting to feel a little underwhelmed by my role as a mom and housewife with nothing much else going on. I have always wanted to write but didn’t deem myself ‘creative’ enough. I found out from my sister about how easy WordPress is to use and set up and thought, why not. My husband was happy for me to do it, and we made a pact that as long as I didn’t put my girls’ faces all over the internet, or name too many names, then all was good. It was slow going in the beginning, but I feel like I’m finally finding MY voice and I’m loving it.
My Advice To New Bloggers
Just start. You ‘voice’ and personal style will come. Don’t try to write like everyone else, you are not them, you are you, only you know how to be you. Readers can spot forced writing that lacks depth a mile away. Create a blog style of your own including logo, name, header, font, etc. Stick to it and try to create a signature look that people will instantly recognise you. There are some great free online resources for doing this, but I have found Canva to be the best.
Join linkys, and promote your blog posts on social media. Don’t go crazy though, pick a few and stick with those, this applies both to the linkys, and to the social media platforms. If you try to manage a presence on every social media platform out there, you will crash and burn. It’s impossible.
My Nominations
These are a few of my favourite blogs that I read at the moment, among many others. There is a mix of local (South African) bloggers, funny bloggers and the more serious bloggers too.
There is no obligation to participate in this award. It’s totally up to you whether you pass it on or not. Feel free to use the same image I have, or make up your own. There is no need to reinvent the wheel if you don’t want to.
Happy Friday all, and enjoy the weekend.
Well done my Love xx proud of you
>
Thanks my love – I think this is the first time you’ve commented. xx
Well done I so enjoy your blog. I wait almost daily for it. Well done again
haha … no pressure then. x
Wow! I’m sitting at the dinner table with my husband having a good cry at how shit the day has been, kids arguing etc, you know the story… then my phone beeps and it’s twitter telling me you’ve nominated me for this fabulous award!!! I can’t tell you how much it meant to me, especially coming from a blogger whom I admire so much . So, from one teary eyed, mascara smudged girl in New Zealand, I’d just like to say, thank you my love , thank you xx? Liz
Oh I am so glad! We all have those days, not that hearing that makes it any better when you’re in the moment. I often feel sorry for the husbands when we do that, they are often so clueless until the waterworks starts, then they are just awkward. lol. Hope your weekend is a good one. x
I know..
come home from work and that’s waiting for you…oh dear, and on a Friday too! That’s why he hasn’t said it, but believe me , he will be sending you some secret thanks tonight
haha … bless. I’m sure you will have a better day tomorrow.
Thank you so much for this lovely! When you work hard on your blog, and you’re also busy being a mom, and taking care of the house, and feel like you may be going a little crazy too because you’re doing too much… its awesome knowing people actually like what you do, and appreciate it! :) xx
Your blog is great! x

Thanks and agreed – It’s more personal.
I am so honored to have been nominated! Thank you so much! And I love your advice to new bloggers, especially about just starting. So many people wait until they’re “ready,” and then ready never happens.
My pleasure lovely. Well deserved. x
Congratulations and Mazel Tov to you! Well deserved friend! <3
Thanks Lisa. x
Thank you again, I’m delighted -although I’m not really sure about sharing my award, I’m a little backwards about coming forwards :) however, I do like the idea of encouraging and supporting other bloggers as it can be such a struggle at times for those who are not confident. Your blog has been a brilliant snapshot of the life in SA that I miss so much. I wish you continued success with your blogging journey, you’ve really done so well already
No pressure to pass it on. I just enjoy recognizing bloggers who engage with me and inspire me. X
:)
Thank you so much for the nomination! That makes my day! Your advice is great…And I LOVE your blog! Keep writing! I have been struggling all do doing a redesign of my website and I feel so disconnected from…everyone! This brought me back & made me think about what I am actually trying to do-WRITE!!! HA!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!
Can’t wait to see the new design. Blogging takes up so much time, the writing seems the easiest and least time consuming and enjoyable part – it’s why most of us started I assume.
I am honored that you nominated me lovely. I have really enjoyed getting to know you from your wonderful blog and love your humour, style and honesty. You have achieved such a lot in relatively short time! Thank you ?
Thanks for such kind words. I love your blog too. It’s so honest. Have a good week xx
Congratulations on your award! Your advice is so true, if you do too much it spreads you too thin and it can be hard bringing quality to everything!
Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week!
