I’m back with another instalment of my InstaRoundUp where I take the top 5 most liked pictures from my Instagram account and use them to provide an update on what’s been going on with me and us.

First thing to note is that it was my birthday on the 1st of October so most of these pictures relate to that. I am 36 years old. Thirty Six! I feel so old some days, and so unprepared for life the others. How am I in charge of a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old? When did that happen? 

No. 5: We went for lunch with a few friends at our local Ocean Basket restaurant on my birthday. Despite the fact that it took about 15 minutes for me to settle the kids and actually sit down, I did end up having a lovely lunch. The manager (I think) sent me this blue cocktail drink. It was quite potent, especially after a few glasses of wine so I only had a sip or two. It was pretty though.

No. 4: Is the bottle of wine I got myself for my birthday, Gorgeous by Graham Beck wines. It was pink. It was yummy. Also in the background is one of the bouquets of flowers I got from my husband and girls.

No. 3: I wrote a post last week called “Am I Even A Woman Anymore“. It recounts a story of how I was asked this actual question by a complete stranger basically because I don’t carry hand-cream in my over-sized hand bag. #TrueStory. My friend read this post and went to the effort of getting me a selection of mini ‘things’ specifically for my handbag, as well as a selection of Tangled Tree Wines. No.2: This is the other bouquet of flowers I got for my birthday, beautiful Proteas. My eldest daughter was so excited to give them to me as they had just learnt about them at school as part of their South African Heritage day celebrations. So sweet. I love how they are starting to relate what they learn at school to real life. When I see how they apply their learning it fills me with pride.

No. 1: On Monday, the day after my birthday, I had an epiphany of sorts. I need to apply myself, my knowledge, my skills and my passion for writing, blogging, editing and social media and actually do something about it. So I went out and bought myself a desk. It might seem like a small thing to many people but it was a huge thing for me. I have great things planned for me and this desk.

So that’s my roundup – a lot of wine, a lot of flowers, and a lot of plans for my future.
