Choosing wallpaper for your children’s bedroom is a big decision. It can be difficult to find the perfect one that will suit their personality and style. There are many different types of wallpaper to choose from, but it can be hard to know which one is best in terms of what they will want, and suitable for your overall home style. Enter: Stick-on wallpaper for your child’s bedroom.
There are some things you should consider before making a decision on wallpaper for your child’s bedroom.
The first thing you should think about is the age of your child. If they are under 3 years old, then you should avoid using any wallpaper with small patterns or designs as they may cause them to become distracted and frustrated when trying to sleep or play in their room. If they are over 3 years old, then you can use any type of wallpaper that suits their personality and style.
Who knew that wallpaper could have an impact on their sleep? Not me, but it makes sense now.
Decorations and personality:
When you bring a child into the world you curate this idea in your mind of how their life is going to be and all you want for them is to get the best of things and experience the best things. While decorating your child’s nursery you make sure that you surround the room with hints of your personality and later add things that depict their personality but setting up the nursery and putting the pieces together can be a very tough process. You need to be up-to-date with all the latest design trends to make the room look elegant, stylish, and fashionable.
About 10 years ago people were not that familiar with stick on wallpaper and wanted to stick to the old conventional methods of painting the walls. I opted for the same option of painting the walls rather than searching the market for more reliable alternatives. To be honest even the wallpaper was not developed at that time and people wanted to stay on the safe side. But now with DIY being such a fun, cost-saving way to add personality to your home, people have started using wallpaper for their convenience too.
Reasons to switch to wallpaper
If someone asks me today whether I would paint the walls of the nursery I designed for my daughters or use wallpaper I would go with the latter option. There are so many benefits that wallpaper gives which are quite unimaginable to achieve with paint. From murals to shading, the variations available mean that what you can achieve by using wallpaper for your child’s bedroom is unlimited.
Some of the reasons why I wish I had removable wallpaper in my daughter’s nursery when they were babies are:
- The luxury to remove it: When my baby girls were born I thought that they would always love the petty pink flowers that I had painted in their rooms but as time passed by I realized that as children grow their personalities change. While one child might feel like the room is according to their liking the other one might not. This put me into a long process of changing the look of the room because of the paint on the walls. Whereas, a removable wallpaper that is readily available in the market now provides the luxury of being removed without damaging the walls so that the room can be altered according to the child’s needs.
- Easy to install: Not only is wallpaper easy to remove but it can easily be installed due to the adhesive that is lined at the back of the wallpaper. If only these wallpapers were available in the market a few years back I wouldn’t have had to go through the process of hiring a professional and making him paint the whole room which was costlier and messier.
- No stains: Speaking from experience I can tell that children can be messy and in their mischief and excitement they can put their hands on the walls ruining all the paint and beautiful patterns you have created for them in the nursery. Today when you go to buy removable wallpaper for a nursery you will get to know that these wallpapers are laminated and can just be cleaned with one wipe.
- You can change your mind: As kids age their tastes and styles grow, develop and mature. Stick-on wallpaper is a great way of being able to renovate your kid’s bedroom to adapt to their changing tastes.
These reasons to choose stick-on wallpaper apply to all rooms in your house actually. We moved into a new build house a few years ago, and as many people know, your budget is a bit stretched in the first few months so decorating your new home becomes costly. However, we attempted to DIY our kitchen/diner with stick-on wallpaper ourselves and love love love it. It’s a bit tricky at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s not difficult at all. The
